We will meet tuesday 30th of october to film the indoor scenes, we will meet around lunch time at Nicole's house. We will spend some time setting up everything and getting into costume. This will break the filming up to and make it easier for us to know what bits are done and complete. For this we will need to have the school uniform costume and the doll prop. This is the opening sequence so will make sense to do it first. We will be using the tripod and DSLR to capture some stills also all footage we capture will be done using the camera. Nicole is going to play our female character so she will dress up as her and get into the correct uniform. We should be able to get all the footage we need for the indoor part in this afternoon.
If we manage to compete filming indoors on the tuesday we will start filming outside if the conditions are right. For this we will need to have the change of costume for Nicole, this will be the white dress. We will use all the same equipment and props. Permitting on the conditions and the amount of light we have we could finish filming everything in this day outside. If this is not the case we plan to resume filming on Wednesday the 31st of October. This will be to finish off and make sure we have everything filmed ready for the edit stage. We plan to meet at 3pm to carry on filming outside, this should be the perfect lighting conditions to get a good quality effect and also allows us to capture lots of detail.

Costumes, props and equipment
Costumes
There will only be two costumes for our characters because you will not see the male character fully on his hands. For the young girl we will have to costumes on will be when she returns home from school so she will be in a uniform. This will look like a school girls uniform so it will be a polo shirt and jumper, with black trousers. This will represent her as young and innocent and mask what terrible things are going to happen to her. Later in the film she will be dressed in a plain white dress following the thriller theme. This will still make her look innocent and young and mask the bad things that are going to happen to her. This costume will detach her from her school life and bring her closer to the outside world and the harm of Jeremy. Later in the film when we see her covered in blood and dirt she will still be wearing the dress only it will mean more she will be completely detached from her normal life and in this controlled world. As the film develops her costume will show the transition from safety to the hellish world that she's trapped in.
Jeremy's clothes will not be seen but his gloved a hands will, this is to emphasize his 'controlling hands' and the puppet like dominance he has over Annabelle. Jeremy wears these gloves to signify his detachment from the world and his incognito nature, his sense of being 'un-findable'
Props
We will not need many props the main prop will be the doll that represents the school girl. This will play and big part in the link between Jeremy and Annabelle and showing the controlling side of our thriller. This will give the audience physical recognition of how the male character is controlling the girl, also the audience will be able to relate this element to other films they may have seen and compare the two.
There will be a TV in the room that hypnotizes the girl so we will need this to be included. Hypnosis, or other mind trapping / controlling methods have been used in other films to represent the control that the antagonist has over the protagonist.
As the young girl is playing in her room the TV captures her attention and links her to the antagonist by trapping her under this trance.
Fake blood, this will be used when the girl returns from committing a murder. This will be have a good effect n what happens because the audience wont actually see the murder so the audience will get the message. This will make the thriller seem more realistic because if we had to recreate a murder scene it would potentially look cheesy and not very well made.
Body paint, The girl will have lots of messages written all over her to give a more possessed look and an out of body image. The girl will have this on when in the woods to show she is fully under control and lots all recollection of herself.
Equipment list
We will be using:
Sony HDR HC9 Camera - This will be used to capture all of our footage. We will then upload that to iMovie for a rough edit and then use Final Cut Pro software to put it all together to make the film.
Tripod - This will give us a steady shot and reduce the shaking on the camera and improve quality.
DSLR camera - We can put still images in and use this to capture the location and images that we need for planning.

Planning Edit - Thriller film
We want our use of eding to emphasise the content of the film and to create both fast and slow paced scenes. the use of slow and fast scenes will emphasise the content of the film which will create suspense and mystery.
We will use a match cut, fading from a child's drawing of a woods, to a shot of a real woods. This will show our ability in editing and will create a sense of mystery linking the girl to the woods. This will be a slow shot to build suspense that will lead to a climax.
We will also use both slow and fast fades, depending on the scene. In scenes where there is little or no action we will use slow fades, this will create suspense and mystery. In fast paced scenes we will use very quick or no fades, this will create a sense of urgency within the scene and emphasises the fast pace of the scene.
Jump cut will be uses in scenes where there is not much importance or in scenes where long shots or close up shots are used. Using fades or other transitions is unnecessary in these types of shots because they are used to focus on one thing or place and need to be quick. For example in a conversation, if a camera was taking over the shoulder shots of characters, they need to be snappy to show which character is talking.

Analysing thriller film scenes
Film - Book Of Eli
Scene - Bar fight
"How does the location and use of light depict the emotional landscape of a character?"
The location is set in the dusty bar of a post apocalyptic town. The protagonists face is half shrouded in shadow, to indicate that he has an evil or dark side. The antagonists face on the other hand is in the half light of the bar, showing a full picture of his face and indicating his innocence. The protagonist Eli's combatant skill is shown by him smashing the face of the antagonist on the bar. The sounds of the antagonists panting, indicates that the attack on him by Eli came as a shock or that he is fearful of him because of it.
As Eli collects his belongings from the bar, a man behind him draws a knife from his belt, suggesting that there is more violence to come. A high angle shot is then focused on Eli indicating that he is strong and powerful. The music at this point drops to a lower pitch and slows indicating danger. Eli puts his bag down showing that he is ready for a fight.
Eli responds with a biblical reference indicating that he is religious and fights for a righteous cause. The music in this scene refelects the location and context of a post apocalyptic bar, it also builds tension that there will be violence subsequent to the initail attck by Eli.
Film - The Dark Knight
Scene - Jokers interrogation
"How is sound used to create suspense and other effects in the scene?"
As the commissioner, Gordon enters the room, the door creaks, showing that there will be trouble and creating suspense. The creaking door is a classic technique used in thriller films as it indicates to a viewer that something bad is about to take place. The large metal door slams to give a sense of power to Gordon, it also makes him more intimidating, suggesting to the audience that he is in a powerful position and should be feared and that the Joker is in a weak position. The door creaks once more, creating a sense of tension, that keeps an audience on their toes as the light turns on and Batman is standing silently behind the Joker. This emphasizes the Joker's weakness as he is unaware of Batman's presence. As Batman 'looses his cool', and discovers that his friends are in danger, the music changes to a single tone, that gradually get louder in volume and higher in pitch, this brings the level of suspense up and up, gradually to an explosive climax.
Film - Sherlock Holmes
Scene - Vernier fighting
"How is the antagonist and protagonist represented on the scene?"
In this scene the protagonist, played by Robert Downey Jr. is showed initially as weak, being beaten up by a much bigger and more powerful man. However he is quick enough to taunt the antagonist by slapping him on the head, and dodging his attacks. Sherlock slumps to the side of the ring and takes some of a bystanders drink, this shows that he is greedy and probably exhausted. Sherlock is distracted by jeers of the audience where he is knocked out by the bigger man. Sherlock sees a familiar crest on a white hanker chief by which he changes from a weak, and annoying man to a very intelligent and strong man.
Sherlock sees a pretty woman dressed in red, which represents danger, this could mean that she is dangerous to Sherlock or if she causes danger. This is emphasised by Sherlock's
After giving up the fight he is spat on by the bigger man and then plans in a matter of moments, his counter attack on the antagonist, where he systematically deconstructs a plan of action, and carries it out in a quick and unflawed way.
After Sherlock physically traumatizes the other man, he calmly walks and collects money from a man, and takes an unlabelled bottle and walks upstairs. This shows that he feels no remorse or guilt for hurting another person and can go about recreational activities as if nothing has happened.

Analasys of thriller film titles
An attractive title is essential for triller films as they are the representation of what is to come. Without a title, a potential audience does not know what sort of content or plot the film will have.
This thriller film title is written in a sera font, which makes an audience feel like the film is well made and professional. The angle of the title is slightly twisted to the side, suggesting that there is a twist in the story, it also connotes that the film gives a different perspective of a character's story. The arrows coming out of the letters show that the film is creative and original, it also emphasises the title itself and plays on the name 'Noth By Northwest'.
The green background of the title suggest goodness or a lighter side to this film, usually green signifies life and goodness. The blue grid also suggests that the film is well made and has a good structure and plot, alternatively, it could suggest that there is a lot going on in the film. The grid makes a viewer think of what the film is including, such as banks or robberies. This happens because of the business of the grid. This keeps an audience on edge and waiting for a climax.
The title as a whole has a slanted view, which gives an impression that there will be different perspectives on the plot and that there is something going on that you cannot see. Towards the edge of the title, the grid gets closer together, suggesting that things will get more and more dangerous throughout the film, this creates suspense and keeps an audience wanting to see more.

This thriller film title is written in a sera font which gives it a sense that it has been produced to a high standard. It has an unnatural glow to it, which emphasises the word 'ALIEN' and its meaning, which is unknown and suggests danger. The 'A' is slightly in shadow, which suggests that it is hiding something or that something is watching the audience which gives a different feel to this title. Darkness signifies danger and endings, at the each end of the word 'ALIEN' the colour of the font gets darker and slightly covered in shadow, suggesting that there will be a bad or dangerous end for the protagonist or antagonist. In contrast to this, is the glowing 'I', this suggests that there is a lighter or good side to this film or to the Aliens, it also suggests that there is a way to another place, as it looks slightly like a door. This links to the dark edges of the word which suggest death or endings. as well as looking like a door the 'I' also looks like an eye, but is not clear of whose or what's eye, or what it is looking at, this creates suspense and mystery and attracts a potential audience as well as keeping them 'on edge'.
The font in this title is bold and fills the majority of the space in this title, which emphasises the power and stature of the Aliens. It is blue which is a cold colour, this could represent the frigidity of the Aliens and how they kill their victims without emotion.
The black background on which the word is set, is calm and the use of the contrasting cold and warm colours create a sense of mystery and make an audience feel uneasy. There is nothing happening in the background which makes the audience wonder what is going to happen. The calmness of the background makes an audience trusting and relaxed, unaware of the jumps and climax to come, this adds an excellent effect for the thriller genre. The background has a sense of innocence, similar to the people in the film, who have aliens growing inside them and are unaware of it, the audience is unaware of the thrills the film has in store, due to the blankness of the background.
The title as a whole is very rigid and straight, which comes across as intimidating to an audience. It also is drawn so that the centre is wider and higher than the edges, imitating that it is coming out towards the audience, this is intimidating and creates a sense of mystery and suspense.
This title has a rustic feel. The background is dark which represents danger and the unknown which is essential for thrillers, towards the top, it looks like a worn piece of metal which could represent guns, as this film is set in Texas, or could represent the industrialism of the characters. Alternatively, it could be a slab of concrete representing the concrete emotions or personality of the protagonist. The concrete/metal, is taller than the bloodstain, which could represent the protagonist/antagonist overlooking the violence and bloodshed.
At the bottom of the background, there is a patch of dark red which could represent the blood spilled in the film or the danger that the protagonist faces from the antagonist.
The font is fairly small, however it is very bold. This could represent the boldness of an insignificant or seemingly insignificant individual. And has a flecking of the letters on the words which look like they could represent the journey the protagonist faces or the twists in the plot, or even the unexpected acts of kindness or violence.
In the top left corner there is a patch of dark shadow which could represent the dark side of the main characters, or that there is a dark secret in this film. Darkness usually represents the unknown which could also show that there is danger or that the unknown is dangerous.

Thriller film title sequences
Title sequence for 'Se7en'
The sound used in this title sequence adds an essence of creepiness to the sequence as a whole. The creaking of chairs and clocks ticking, sound like something that would come from an abandoned house. The most effective use of sound in the is title sequence is the sound of a VCR tape being wound back, the pitch has been changed and it sounds like a woman screaming, adding mystery and suspense.
The semiology gives the viewers a mental image of what the antagonist is like. He does thongs methodically and keeps track of things in a ledger. This shows that the man is intelligent, but is using it for the wrong reasons. To emphasise the danger the antagonist beholds, the pages of his ledger quiver as he runs his hand over it, signalling to the audience that they should be afraid of him. The antagonist is constantly preoccupied with his hands, suggesting and obsession with things or holding things, this is supported when a pair of disfigured and dismembered hands are shown on his desk. This shows that he is gruesome and dangerous. The antagonist is seen shaving his finger tips which could indicate that he is going to be breaking into to a property and does not want to be traced, this also shows how dedicated to committing crimes. The man takes numerous trimmings of the word god, and removes all words that connote anti catholic beliefs i.e. blacking out words like 'sexual' and 'transexual'
Editing in this title sequence emphasises the killers movements, the transitions start by slowly switching from one scene to another to imitate the killers careful planning, but the transitions speed up to emphasise that he is executing his plans. This raises the tension that the content of the sequence has already built up.
Title sequence for 'Alien'
The sounds in this title sequence is very basic and slow, it supports the environment in which the sequence is set. Soundtrack in this title sequence is based around monotone, but features the sort of sounds you might hear in a jungle. An eerie flute like instrument plays and the jungle sounds get more intense as if the flute is exciting the jungle. The music gradually get higher in pitch and reaches a sharp climax as the music ends in a high pitched and faced paced tone, accompanied by the sounds of the jungle.
The semiology in this sequence is in harmony with the music. The actual title of the movie appears in sections of each letter, this is used to support the idea that the aliens in this film are intelligent and methodical, or that it is set in a very advanced time frame. When the title of the film is fully formed the music speeds up and the amount of drum beats increase. The only thing that the title sequence gives away is the environment, it shows outer space with a large planet that is gradually fully shown, this builds up suspense and mystery as to what significance the planet has.
The editing of this title sequence is minimal and it is one continuous camera movement across an area of outer space. The gradual construction of the title through parts of each letter in the word 'Alien' creates a sense of mystery and suspense.
Title sequence for 'Momento'
The soundtrack in this title sequence is very slow and is based around string instruments like violins and cellos. The sound of Polaroid pictures being shaken can be heard throughout. The violins pace does not increase but stays at the same monotonous tempo, however the pitch slightly increases just as the sound of a picture going back into a camera, followed by the sound of a gun and then a scream from a man.
The semiology in this title sequence is in reverse, this hold the connotations that the antagonist wants to turn back the clock. the antagonists hands can be seen with Polaroid pictures of a dead body, the man then draws out the camera where the picture slides back inside. The camera angle then focuses on the antagonist's face, he looks scared and angry, this could be because he has a hatred for his victim or because he is angry at what he did, or because he is scared he will get caught by the police. A close-up of some blood and the antagonist staring at it, this could show that he is proud of his work however his body language does not look like someone who is proud. A close-up of an empty bullet shell is a clear indicator of death and is followed by a close-up of a bloodstained wall with a pair of blood splattered glasses, this adds emphasis to the bullet and indicates to the audience that they are going to be showed death. As this is in rewind, the antagonist's gun is returned to him after being thrown on the ground, followed by this is the victim, a man who is lying in the corner of a bare concrete room, this emphasises the man's vulnerability, the antagonist then picks up the empty bullet shell after killing the vulnerable victim.
The editing in this title sequence are used to emphasize the killers thoughts or motives, it is shown in reverse which could connote that the antagonist regrets his doings, or that he wants to turn back the clock to undo them.
